A mid-century spread in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, that was once owned by boxing legend Muhammad Ali has been relisted for $1.85 million, according to records.

Ali owned the six-bedroom, Mediterranean ranch-style home during the 1970s, according to the listing with Mun Chan of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Though located in New Jersey, Cherry Hill is best known as a popular suburb of Philadelphia, Penn., and is located less than 10 miles east of downtown Philadelphia on the other side of the Delaware River.

Built in 1965, the home sits on 1.5 acres and is built for entertaining, with a spacious open plan dining and entertaining area surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors. The home’s extensive outdoor space includes a multi-level deck with a hot tub, per the listing, while a patio with a pergola and seating overlooks the yard, which boasts an in-ground pool, basketball court, tennis court and gazebo.

The lower level of the home features a gym, an office and a 12-foot wet bar, and the listing notes that the owners “have meticulously maintained the property, renovating it while keeping the grand splendor of the original home as well as honoring Ali’s legacy.”

The home last sold for $690,000 in 2014, according to records on PropertyShark, and has been on and off the market since then both for sale and as a rental, asking as much as $2.35 million in August 2020, according to records. It returned to the market in early July.

The light-filled home also features a solarium with a fireplace and windows overlooking the backyard, according to listing photos. The primary suite has a spacious en-suite bathroom with a soaking tub and waterfall shower, and in addition to four other bedrooms on the home’s main level, a private “guest quarter” has its own separate entrance as well as a kitchen, laundry, and full bath.

Ali, who died in 2016 at age 74, owned the home between 1971 and 1973 according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, which first reported the most recent listing.

“The house needed a lot of work done to it, so I put another $150,000 into it,” Ali told Philadelphia Magazine in the 1970s. “Plus I paid $115,000. And I made a little mansion out of it.”

The home has at points been available for rent as an Airbnb, CBS Philly has reported.

Considered one of the greatest boxers of all time, Ali, born as Cassius Clay, was a three-time heavyweight world champion before retiring in 1981. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s syndrome in 1984. He was also a noted activist and philanthropist, refusing to be drafted into the Vietnam War, and supporting numerous causes and charities over the course of his life.
